About

The Winflo is the underdog of Nike’s running collection. Although it presents itself today as a universal shoe, it still offers a stable ride inherited from its beginnings. Nike fans are excited about this new Winflo 8 which, like previous models, prioritizes comfort for long- distance runs . Although the setup looks a bit dated in 2021 , runners appreciate the Cushlon foam midsole paired with a forefoot Zoom Air unit, and the security and comfort in the heel and ankle.

The midsole and outsole of this shoe are identical to those of the Winflo 7, but the new Flywire technology in the midfoot helps improve the precision of foot support. This feature, combined with a padded tongue and heel, provides optimal comfort and reinforced protection. Collar foam is integrated into the heel counter and mesh upper for added security and breathability.

In short, these running shoes are designed for daily outings and offer a good balance between comfort, price, quality and versatility . We just hope for even more dynamic cushioning for version 9, with new foam, ideally!

Introduction

The Winflo 8 is a running shoe for everyday training . Generally speaking, Nike’s Winflo collection has always aimed for comfort and durability for everyday runs, but the 8 raises the bar even higher with Flywire technology . These cables work with the laces to provide a snug fit when tightening.

For the rest, it’s a shame that Nike didn’t choose to upgrade the EVA midsole with one or more of its latest technologies. React foam? ZoomX? Not this time, and perhaps never seen the affordable price of the Winfo ( less than 100 euros). Nonetheless, the Cushlon/Air Zoom combo provides a soft, cushioned experience in the heel and forefoot, respectively.

Historically a stability shoe , the Winflo is now classified as a universal shoe, meaning it competes with other entry-level shoes like the Revolution and Legend React.

Let’s see what it has under the hood and if it is for you.

Cushioning

You know the saying: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That’s why the Winflo 8’s midsole uses the same familiar foam that runners loved on the 7.

Cushlon offers a smooth, responsive ride and provides that extra bit of bounce that allows runners to cover long distances in comfort. With a forefoot Zoom Air unit that extends to the heel, this shoe doesn’t skimp on comfort. This makes it a good option for longer distances .

More than just a cushioned running experience, this Nike shoe is also a good choice for runners who need more support, thanks to the new Flywire technology and the stability DNA of the shoe.

Although not officially a pronator shoe, the Winflo 8 offers enough support for those who need more support.

Foot support (upper)

The upper of this Nike uses mesh with translucent mesh . The technical fabric is thin and has perforations in the front of the foot. This design allows the feet to breathe better in hot weather and during intense runs. It’s also conducive to a secure fit that locks the foot in place, including Flywire that targets the midfoot.

The padded tongue built into these Nike sneakers is connected to the lining of the upper, which improves stability and comfort. In addition, the rear part is also cushioned and comfortably locks the foot to prevent the heel from slipping.

Although the upper material is thin, runners have not complained of tears or tears. However, a common – and rather unanimous – criticism of the upper’s design is its skimpy toe box . For those with very wide feet, this shoe may be too narrow.

Runners who have tried this Nike running shoe recommend going up a size as a potential solution.

Adhesion and durability

The outsole uses plenty of thick, durable rubber to protect the feet (and the rest of the rig) from ground impact. However, it is best to stick to paved roads and avoid more complex terrain. This is because while rubber provides a decent amount of traction, it doesn’t provide enough grip for trails, except maybe for easy dirt roads.

The Nike Winflo 8s have had a deep flex groove that allows the heel to function independently (or almost). Thus, the platform allows smooth transitions from back to front.

Overall, this Nike model, despite its affordable price, is built to last and rack up serious mileage.. Durability is therefore at the rendezvous.

Racing feeling

Testers report well-cushioned long-distance runs . The heel is softer than the previous version, and the softer foam provides greater comfort.

Despite a simple setup with no plate, rocker, or “super foam” (like ZoomX), it offers smooth, effortless transitions with a slight bounce. So don’t be fooled by its low price: the Winflo 8 is a real running shoe , equipped with everything you need to push yourself and achieve your goals in daily training.

Conclusion

In summary, the Winflo 8 is a reliable, no-frills training running shoe . It’s a solid option for tackling long sessions thanks to its stable and comfortable setup. Be careful though: people with wide feet may be a little cramped in the Winflo 8. A size up can help but you have to try them on. Finally, at less than 100 euros, the Nike Winflo 8 offers unbeatable value for money for the quality and versatility it offers. It is therefore a good option to add to your rotation and vary the pleasures!
