About

The Nike Renew Run is an affordable new running shoe for the road. It takes the sleek design with bright colors of the Infinity Run but with a much more affordable price. Thus, its configuration is simpler without sacrificing comfort or quality. The sole is relatively thick with 31 mm under the heel and 22 mm under the forefoot which offers good shock absorption and good dynamism. A few testers note, however, that the shoe holds the foot a bit tightly. This can be explained by the fact that the sole rises on each side of the foot to better secure it, which may not appeal to all runners. For the rest, the upper is breathable and leaves enough room for the toes. It should however be noted that this model is really heavy with 366 grams for men and 268 grams for women, probably due to the use of less technically advanced materials than on the brand’s more high-end shoes. In summary, the Nike Renew Run is a good, comfortable and not too expensive running shoe that we would like to be lighter.

Technology

outsole

  • The Nike Renew Run uses rubber as its outsole. It is extremely durable and provides effective traction on the road even when it rains to prevent accidental slips.

Midsole

  • The midsole features a dual-density configuration including full-length Lunar foam . Its objective is to disperse the impacts during the race for optimal comfort. We also note that this configuration has the merit of ensuring maximum responsiveness for more dynamism.

Upper part (upper)

  • The upper of the Nike Renew Run combines technical mesh and synthetic material . Its stretchy nature allows it to adapt to the shape of your foot and wedge it in comfortably for more pleasant running outings. In addition, perforations dot the mesh to ensure good ventilation and prevent the foot from sweating excessively during exercise.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How do the Nike Renew Run fit?

This road shoe uses a regular sizing system. Thus, it must correspond to the announced size. You can therefore choose your usual size for running shoes. However, if this is your first Nike model, a visit to the store is advised to ensure that you choose the ideal size.

Is this model suitable for pronator runners?

This shoe is a universal stride model. Thus, it is designed to suit all users regardless of their stride. It therefore does not display a stability aid to balance the stride and prevent supination or overpronation. Remember here that in any case models for pronators are no more effective than universal shoes to avoid injury (see our article on the subject). We therefore advise to select your running shoes according to their comfort. Indeed, this is the most important criterion. So you can opt for this model whatever your stride, as long as it is comfortable.

Is this road shoe suitable for heavy athletes (85 kg or more)?

To our knowledge, only one study so far has observed the link between weight, sole thickness and risk of injury. According to the latter’s findings, minimalist footwear may increase the risk of injury for athletes who weigh more than 71 kg. Other than that, there are no tips for other types of running shoes. The Renew Run has a rather thick sole with 31 mm of height under the heel and should therefore suit most runners regardless of their weight.

Are these shoes suitable for running a marathon?

This Nike road shoe is very suitable for different types of training and distances. You can therefore put it on during your daily sessions, of any type. As for the marathon, there is no special instruction. If you’re able to run comfortably in this shoe during training of varying distances over several months, then they should be a good choice on your race day!
